The area of the Dee Estuary in Flintshire was the location for many claypits and brickworks. Notable among them was Castle Brickworks, operated by the Castle Firebrick Company from about 1865. A tramway connected its claypit and works. After the First World War a number of Kerr, Stuart built “Wren” locomotives worked the system.
